GCSE Results 2020
As with the A levels last week, we are delighted that the results achieved by our Year 11 pupils this year.
The ongoing controversy around the grades that have been awarded should in no way take away from what has been nearly two years of hard work, and more recent uncertainty for all our Year 11 pupils, and those nationwide. We look forward to them returning to school and embarking upon the exciting, next stage of their education in the Sixth Form. Following exciting development and investment in science, we are particularly pleased with the best ever set of results that have come from subject area. Putting all three separate sciences together, 41% of grades were at level 9, 62% at 8 or 9,and 87% at 7/8/9. English also deserves a mention with over 65% of all grades coming in at 7/8/9, where as in Geography that figure rises to 68%. Speaking on result’s day, Principal, Ricki Smith said:
“I am delighted by what has been achieved by all the Year 11 pupils today. Through no fault of their own, they have had to endure a critical part of their education being taken away from them, and then wait to see what they get at the end of a process that they have had no control of. The results that they have been awarded are fitting of a truly exceptional group of young people. This year will be remembered for many reasons. However, it is important that we do not let it be defined by the impact of the pandemic, but by the educational growth and achievement that has prospered at St Gabriel’s, despite this circumstance. I am most grateful for the professionalism and dedication shown by all staff through this difficult time.”
