Elodie Makes a Splash at Hampshire County Swimming Championships

Year 6 pupil Elodie delivered an outstanding performance at the Hampshire County Swimming Championships last weekend, competing in her very first County-level competition at Winchester’s 50m pool.
Swimming in the 10/11-year-old age group, Elodie qualified for an impressive seven events, choosing to contest five: 50m, 100m, and 200m Breaststroke, 50m Butterfly, and 200m Medley. Having spent the past year ranked in the top four for her favourite Breaststroke events, she went into the competition with high hopes—and she certainly didn’t disappoint!
Her first final, the 50m Breaststroke, was a thrilling neck-and-neck race, where she battled hard to claim a silver medal. She followed this up with the 100m Breaststroke, qualifying 2nd fastest before powering through the last 50m to take her first-ever County title and a gold medal.
In the 200m Breaststroke, Elodie delivered a dominant performance, smashing her personal best by 15 seconds to claim her second County title, finishing more than 3.5 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.
Elodie, who trains with Basingstoke Bluefins SC, first developed her love of swimming right here at St Gabriel’s, honing her skills in our very own outdoor pool from the age of five. We are incredibly proud of her achievements and can’t wait to see what’s next for this talented young swimmer!
