Author, Sylvia Bishop, Visits The Junior School
On Tuesday, 16 January, Sylvia Bishop, author of ‘The Bookshop Girl’ and ‘Trouble in New York’ visited the school to talk to the children about her books, to teach skills for exciting story writing and to inspire a love and excitement for writing.
Sylvia is an internationally renowned author, and we were delighted to have secured a visit by her. She gave a series of workshops for the children to provide inspiration for their own writing and also enthusing them with the joy of reading. The children were really engaged in the workshops and thrilled by the creative writing and storytelling throughout the day. This will support the literacy work that we do in school. Listening to the children chat enthusiastically to Sylvia as she signed their books about the stories they have written and the ones they plan to write demonstrates how inspiring and useful these experiences can be.
