Spellathon for NSPCC
On Wednesday 6 November the Junior School welcomed back Miranda Aston and the ever popular Buddy from the NSPCC, the UK’s leading children’s charity, to assembly. In September, they came in to school talk to pupils about the Speak Out Stay Safe programme, and they returned for a special follow up visit to receive a very generous cheque for £1,611.40
The donation was thanks to our pupils who put their spelling skills to the test when they took part in a sponsored spellathon to raise much needed funds to support the NSPCC's work and the Speak Out Stay Safe programme.
During assembly Miranda was impressed with our pupil’s ability to remember important facts she had shared during her previous visit and she read a poem from a child who thanked the NSPCC for the support they provided when she needed help.
We’re delighted that St Gabriel's has chosen to fundraise for the NSPCC this term and would like to thank you and everyone at your school for your support. By raising the wonderful sum of £1611.40, you’ve also made sure that we can be there to help even more children who desperately need us.
