Sport & Wellbeing
Wellbeing
The wellbeing of our pupils and providing a happy and productive learning environment are the foundation stones of the Junior School.
Small class sizes allow teachers to build warm, positive relationships with pupils. This is a highly nurturing ethos which is delivered by staff whose care and dedication is readily evident every day.
Pupils’ wellbeing is closely monitored, and appropriate pastoral support is quickly put in place should it be necessary. We have a dedicated counsellor, who provides support to pupils, parents and staff. This may take the form of parent sessions, pupil groups or tutor sessions, one-to-ones or working with particular families where there is a need.
Sport
We encourage all our pupils, whatever their ability, to participate in the wide range of sports we offer.
We recognise the value of sport in developing teamwork, confidence and leadership, as well as for its physical benefits and simple enjoyment. The PE & Games curriculum includes football, gymnastics, athletics, hockey, tennis, netball, cross-country running, rugby, cricket and swimming. From Year 3, competitive matches against other local independent schools take place on Wednesday & Friday afternoons, with other regional and national competitions running throughout the year.
School teams may be boys, girls or mixed depending on the nature of the event and pupils are always very proud to represent their school.
