Although a rather wet day, this did nothing to dampen the spirits and enthusiasm of Year 3. The children were split into two groups for the morning activities, which involved a woodland walk to spot the early signs of spring, pond dipping, observing frogspawn and frogs, examining owl pellets, learning about wheat, oat and grain and finally, learning all about the important role of bees as pollinators. This interactive style of teaching had the children and teachers dressing up as bees and daffodils, where the children learnt and performed how bees communicate to their hive - including the 'bee bum wiggle' which resulted in much amusement and hilarity! The afternoon saw both groups come together for a rather bumpy tractor ride (hold onto your lunches), with stops to admire the views and spot the badger holes. The children saw some farm animals (which included feeding the chickens) and examined a chalk wall which contained 'space dust', also known as iridium. It was a day packed-full of fun and learning!
