St Gabriel's sponsors Monopoly: Newbury Edition!
It’s fantastic to be a part of a game that has been around almost as long as St Gabriel’s!
We are thrilled to be featured on the board and box of Monopoly: Newbury Edition on sale today! We attended the great launch event at Newbury Racecourse this morning and Mr Monopoly stopped by to say hi to our Year 6 class after they finished their Senior School entrance examinations this afternoon.
It’s such an exciting time for our school as we transition to fully co-educational by 2026. Being a part of this project recognises the significance of Sandleford Priory as an historic landmark in the Newbury area, and the importance of our school to the Newbury community.
Our Senior School board game club will thoroughly enjoy playing our edition of Monopoly!
“We’re really excited to be part of it… alongside so many amazing charities.”
- Mrs wright, head of lower school
We have been wonderfully spoilt for choice by putting this game together.
John Keen-Tomlinson from Winning Moves UK, who produced the board under licence from Hasbro, a leading toy and game company.
30+ Newbury landmarks are honoured on the board, with Donnington Castle getting to land on the top ranking space, Mayfair, from the classic MONOPOLY original. On ‘Old Kent Road’, at the other end of the board, is Greenham Common. In-between, it sees Highclere Castle, Newbury Racecourse, Parkway and Victoria Park amongst the other 30+ Newbury landmarks featured in the game.
Earlier this year it was announced that Newbury is getting its very own official version of the world’s most popular board game. At the time, the public was invited to send in suggestions for landmarks and organisations to feature in the game.
The response from the public has been overwhelming. A very big thank you to everyone who sent in nominations.

Newbury is delighted to now have its very own MONOPOLY game and to be associated with such a world-famous brand is great for the town.
The Mayor of Newbury, Cllr Nigel Foot
Over the last 25 years, Winning Moves UK has produced official versions of MONOPOLY all over the world, including recently in Phuket and Palm Springs, as well as Dubai and Dublin. Now the MONOPOLY dice have rolled on Newbury.
The game is now for sale at Camp Hopson, The Entertainer, Ryman, Waterstones, WHSmith and The Works – and extensively available online, including at Booghe.co.uk and Amazon.co.uk
