Y7 Trip to Windsor Castle brings History to Life

Today, our Year 7 pupils embarked on an exciting trip to Windsor Castle, a visit designed to enrich their studies of one of the most pivotal moments in British history – the Battle of Hastings in 1066.

The trip offered the perfect blend of education and adventure, bringing history off the page and into real life.

The day kicked off with a fascinating workshop titled "1066: What Happened Next?" Here, the students delved deeper into the aftermath of the famous battle, learning about the power struggle that followed William the Conqueror’s victory and the lasting impact on England’s future. The interactive workshop allowed the pupils to step into the shoes of key historical figures, making complex events more tangible and engaging.

But the history lesson didn’t stop there! The pupils were also treated to a tour of some of Windsor Castle’s most iconic sites. They marvelled at the grandeur of St George’s Chapel, took in the precision and ceremony of the Changing of the Guard, and explored the majestic State Apartments, soaking in the splendour of the royal residence.

The trip was not only a fantastic opportunity for Year 7 to deepen their understanding of 1066 and its significance, but also a chance to witness centuries of royal history and tradition up close. A truly memorable day for everyone involved!
