Year 1 and Year 5 Team Up for a Magnetic Learning Experience
Year 1 pupils have been diving into the fascinating world of magnets this term, and on Tuesday, 28 January, they had a special hands-on learning session—designed and led by none other than our Year 5 pupils!
As part of a fantastic peer-led initiative, the Year 5s took on the role of teachers, creating an engaging and interactive session for Year 1G. They designed a practical sand tray activity to demonstrate magnetism in action, followed by individual worksheets to reinforce learning. To top it all off, each Year 1 pupil received a special certificate upon completing the task, proudly presented by their Year 5 mentors.
This cross-year collaboration was a brilliant opportunity for both groups—Year 1s had fun exploring magnets in an exciting, hands-on way, while Year 5s developed their leadership and communication skills. The session was a huge success, with smiles all around and plenty of learning taking place.
Well done to both year groups for embracing this engaging approach to science!
