Year 4 Tune into Science with String Telephones!
Year 4 pupils recently discovered the science of sound in a fun and hands-on lesson, using string telephones to explore how vibrations create sound waves.
After crafting and decorating their own cup-and-string telephones, pupils took to the Junior School playground to test their creations. They observed how tight strings carried sound clearly, while loose strings caused the vibrations to disperse, making it harder to hear.
By experimenting with different string lengths and materials, pupils explored the principles of sound transmission—just like the early technology behind landline phones!
A fantastic way to bring science to life through play and discovery. Who knew learning could be this much fun?!
