Show Racism the Red Card
We are delighted to be participating in Wear Red Day on Friday 16 October.
Show Racism The Red Card began in 1996 when Shaka Hislop, then goalkeeper for Newcastle United, was racially abused by a group of young people. On realising who he was, one of the group asked him for his autograph. Shaka Hislop realised that his position gave him the opportunity to influence young people’s attitudes to racism, and the charity was born.
On Wear Red Day, we are suggesting that students wear red for the day in exchange for a £1 donation to Show Racism the Red Card. This can be donated via a JustGiving page, https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/stgabrielsnewburywearredday2020
