A Cracking End to the Spring Term at St Gabriel’s!

As the Spring Term draws to a close, pupils across the school have been celebrating with plenty of fun-filled activities, Easter treats, and a generous dose of friendly competition!
In the Senior School and Sixth Form, pupils swapped their uniforms for casual clothes in support of Time to Talk, a local charity that provides vital counselling support for teenagers and their families. So far, the non-uniform day has raised over £250, with donations still coming in. Year 7 even coordinated their outfits by donning Easter Bunny ears for the occasion!
Meanwhile, the Junior School was buzzing with excitement as pupils took part in a range of Easter-themed activities. Reception embarked on a thrilling treasure hunt, following sneaky paw print clues hidden around their playground that revealed a secret message from the Easter Bunny himself! The adventure continued into the Reception woods, where 30 eggs lay hidden. Pupils collected the eggs and placed them on a 10-frame to count them all up before opening three each. Inside, they either found a fluffy chick or a tricky word to read aloud. Once all the words had been read, the children were rewarded with a delicious chocolate lollipop, which they enjoyed around the campfire.
Years 3 and 4 took part in an exciting Easter trail through the woods, expertly led by Mrs Brazendale, while Year 6 had a high-energy egg hunt on the Sixth Form lawn, dashing through the sunshine in search of their prizes.
The highlight of the week, however, was the Annual Junior School Staff Egg Roll! With the entire Junior School assembled on the back lawns, teachers competed in this much-anticipated (and highly competitive!) event. The challenge? To bowl a Cadbury’s Creme Egg as far as possible down the grass bank—underarm only, with just one bounce allowed! Official adjudicators (our School Council) carefully measured each throw, and after much excitement, Mrs Pearmine emerged victorious, closely followed by Mrs Ryder.
With glorious weather and an abundance of Easter fun, it was an egg-cellent way to round off a fantastic term. Wishing all of our pupils and families a wonderful Easter break!
