GCSE Results 2021
For the second time in a week, we have been delighted with the outstanding achievements of our pupils at St Gabriel’s. Following on fast from the Year 13 A Level results, we are pleased that the Year 11s have been equally impressive in what they have been awarded. Any media questioning about validity of grades this year should be kicked into touch as we take time to celebrate the outcome of two years of hard work, massively disrupted by the pandemic and the subsequent uncertainty that Year 11 pupils nationwide have had to endure. We look forward to them returning to a little more normality as they embark upon their Sixth Form studies in September.
Oluchi comes away with all her 11 grades at level 9, a stunning effort, while twins Holly and Alice, as well as Georgia received at least 9 level 9s. Amazing results when one considers the circumstance and context of their GCSE courses. All pupils deserve great praise for what they have achieved.
However, what stands out more than anything is the way that this cohort has shown their ability to endure stoically, prosper, and flourish, when many have written them off. Their resilience, community-spirit and sense of fun has been a lesson to us all. The year will be remembered for many reasons. However, it is important that we do not let it be defined by the impact of the pandemic, but by the educational growth and achievement that has prospered at St Gabriel’s, despite this circumstance.
