Year 4 Step Back in Time at Ufton Court

Last week, Year 4 pupils took an exciting journey into the past with a trip to Ufton Court, immersing themselves in the world of the Tudors.

The day was filled with hands-on activities, giving pupils a real taste of Tudor life. They tried their hand at spinning wool, wattling walls, and even using flint and steel to light fires—a true test of Tudor survival skills!

After experiencing daily life, the children enjoyed traditional Tudor games, including fox and rabbit, dice games, skittles, and the entertaining challenge of tossing hats onto their heads.

One of the highlights of the day was the Tudor courtroom, where some pupils found themselves on trial in a dramatic re-enactment. Taking on the role of local investigators, they pieced together clues to uncover the secrets of the manor and explored the mysteries of Elizabethan England.

Set in a historic mansion surrounded by 44 acres of ancient woodland, Ufton Court provided the perfect setting for this immersive learning experience. The trip allowed pupils to develop teamwork, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of history—all while having plenty of fun!

A big thank you to Ufton Court for a memorable day of discovery and for bringing the Tudor era to life in such an engaging way.
