Hands-On Conservation Insight at Marwell Zoo
On Thursday 14 November our Year 12 and 13 students experienced a truly inspiring conservation conference and classification workshop at Marwell Zoo.
The visit provided an opportunity to delve into the zoo’s vital role in both domestic and international conservation efforts.
As part of the workshop, students explored critical conservation themes and learnt how Marwell contributes to preserving biodiversity around the globe. A highlight of the day was the chance to encounter and handle a Royal Python snake, rescued from the illegal pet trade—an eye-opening moment that underscored the importance of wildlife protection.
Marwell’s Post-16 conferences are designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice, offering students a unique blend of formal lectures and hands-on learning. Through engaging content and interactive experiences, our students gained valuable insights into real-world conservation work and the challenges facing endangered species today.
Opportunities like this not only enhance classroom learning but also inspire the next generation to make a difference in protecting our planet. A huge thank you to Marwell Zoo for hosting such an impactful and educational event!
