Hey Ewe! A Baa-rilliant Nativity Performance
This week, Reception and Key Stage 1 pupils brought the magic of Christmas to life with their delightful Nativity performance, Hey Ewe!—a heart-warming retelling of the traditional Nativity story through the eyes of a curious sheep.
Written by Antony Copus, the play combines humour, charm, and a timeless festive spirit.
Led by Reception teacher and Junior Music Lead Sarah Bloxham, the children worked tirelessly over the past four weeks, learning lines, practising songs, and perfecting their performances. Their hard work paid off with three fantastic shows: the first for the Junior School on Tuesday, followed by two warmly received performances for parents and family members on Wednesday and Thursday.
From enthusiastic acting to heartfelt singing, the young performers shone on stage. Their joy and excitement were infectious, earning rounds of applause and glowing praise from their audiences. The performances were enhanced by the creative efforts of the Junior School staff, who contributed to everything from costumes and set design to countless rehearsals. Special thanks go to Philip Tebbs and Elsie Williams for their musical expertise.
In the true spirit of the season, a collection taken at the end of the performances raised funds for Swings and Smiles, a Thatcham-based charity supporting children with special needs and their families.
This year's Nativity has once again highlighted the immense talent, teamwork, and festive spirit of our youngest pupils and staff. What a wonderful way to begin the Christmas celebrations at St Gabriel’s!
