Meet Our New School Nurse: Amy Tobin Joins St Gabriel’s Community
We’re delighted to formally introduce Amy Tobin, who joined the St Gabriel’s team at the start of the Autumn term as our new school nurse.
After a busy first half-term, Amy is well settled into school life, and it already feels like she has always been part of the St Gabriel’s family. Her warmth and dedication have made her a fast favourite amongst our pupils, and we’re excited to share a bit more about her background.
Amy’s career in nursing has spanned 15 years, beginning in the care of children and young people with additional needs, primarily autism and learning disabilities. Amy completed a Master’s in Children’s Nursing at the University of Southampton and went on to work in several hospitals, including Great Ormond Street and John Radcliffe, specialising in neurology, neurosurgery, and critical care for children. Before joining us, she spent three years as a Senior Nurse Specialist in CAMHS within the ADHD team.
Outside of work, Amy has three children and a lively Cockapoo named Cooper, so she is as busy outside of work as she is in school! She has always loved delivering training in her work and is now enjoying delivering PSHE lessons across the school and visiting the Junior classes to share her expertise on health and well-being.
Amy works in the medical room with Miss Thompson, and as a team they are working to create a warm, supportive space for students to feel comfortable discussing their needs, while also providing exceptional medical care and first aid. We are thrilled to have her on board and look forward to the positive impact she will continue to bring to our school community. Welcome, Nurse Amy!
