Red Nose Day 2025: Fun, Laughter & Fierce Competition!

On Friday 21 March, St Gabriel’s Nursery and Junior School kicked off Red Nose Day in style—rocking red outfits and sports gear, all in the name of charity.
The highlight of the day? The epic “Beat the Teachers” showdown, where pupils took on their mentors in a series of fun (and often hilarious) challenges.
Lunchtime saw a plethora of competitive activities, with teachers bravely stepping up to take on their determined young challengers. Some of the stand-out moments included:
🏏 Blind Cricket – Principal Mr Smith and Head of Juniors Mr Dove attempted to bat while wearing blackout goggles, as pupils tried their best to bowl them out!
🏃♀️ Skipping Showdown – Pupils tried (and mostly failed) to out-skip Mrs Hart, who proved to be a skipping sensation!
🎤 Longest Note Challenge – Mrs Bloxsom reigned supreme, holding an impressive single note for what felt like forever!
💪 Arm Wrestling Duel – Pupils faced off against the mighty Mrs Dye, testing their strength in an intense battle of the biceps.
⚽ Penalty Shootout – Mr Rowell and Mrs Pearmine took on budding footballers in a test of precision and nerves.
🏀 Netball Scoring Challenge – Pupils raced against the clock to see how many shots they could score in one minute.
🚑 Bandage Time Trial – Nurse Amy led a medic-themed challenge: Could pupils beat her in a race to expertly swaddle a Squishmallow? (Spoiler: Not many could!)
⛳ The Ryder’s Cup Golf Challenge – Mrs Ryder put pupils' putting skills to the test.
🏋️ Burpees Battle – Mrs Dedden showed off her super strength in a burpee contest.
🧘♀️ Pilates Precision – Mrs Lawrence showcased her core control with a one-knee plank on a ball challenge.
With laughter, competition, and plenty of determined faces, the day was an absolute hit. Even the Senior School students couldn’t resist stopping by to watch—and perhaps plan their own teacher vs. student competition for next year!
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and donated to Comic Relief. Not only was it a day of fun and friendly rivalry, but it was all in support of a fantastic cause.
