Thames Valley Police Visit Nursery

Our Nursery children had a thrilling start to the week as we welcomed PCSO Dickson and PCSO Vaughan from Thames Valley Police on Monday, 17 February.

This visit marked the beginning of our ‘People Who Help Us’ theme, giving the children a first-hand look at the important role police officers play in our community.

Pre-School gathered eagerly for a special talk, where they learnt about police work and explored the essential equipment officers carry—from radios and body cams to torches and, of course, their most important tool… a pen! (Perfect for taking notes and recording important details!) PCSO Dickson also delighted the children by reading the storybook PC Ben, which kept them captivated from start to finish.

After an engaging Q&A, it was time for some real hands-on fun! The children stepped outside to explore a police vehicle, watching in awe as the blue lights flashed and listening to the powerful siren. They even had the chance to sit in the lockable cage at the back of the van, while PCSO Dickson joked, “The first and last time you’ll be sitting back here… unless you decide to join TVP in the future!”

The excitement didn’t stop with Pre-School! Toddlers were invited to have a closer look at the van, while the babies ventured out in their buggies to marvel at the flashing lights (with no sirens—phew!).

It was a fantastic morning filled with learning, laughter, and a little bit of police magic! A huge thank you to Thames Valley Police for taking the time to inspire our young learners.
