Year 2 Explores the World of Nursery

On the afternoon of 11 March, Year 2 pupils enjoyed a delightful and insightful visit to the Nursery at St Gabriel's, as part of their ongoing topic about 'growing.'
The children spent an hour exploring the Baby, Toddler, and Pre-School rooms, gaining a deeper understanding of the differences in development across age groups.
During the visit, Year 2 students spent 20 minutes in each room, playing with the Nursery children and observing their behaviour. As they interacted with the little ones, they took careful note of key differences, such as coordination, language, size, and even the amount of hair as they moved through the rooms. The children discussed their observations with Ms. Livingstone and Ms. Bloomfield, reflecting on how the babies’ movements and sounds differed from the more coordinated actions and conversation skills of the pre-schoolers.
At first, the Nursery children were a bit puzzled by the arrival of their Year 2 visitors, but they quickly warmed to the interaction, happily engaging in play with their new friends. The afternoon was full of laughter and learning as the older children not only gained valuable insights into the growth and development process but also made new friends across different age groups.
This visit was a wonderful hands-on experience for Year 2, allowing them to explore their topic of growth in a meaningful and fun way. It was a memorable afternoon for both the Year 2 students and the Nursery children, reinforcing the bonds of our St Gabriel’s community.
