Year 3 Dig into New Soils Project
Earlier this term, our Year 3 pupils kicked off their fascinating new topic on soils with an exciting scavenger hunt around the school grounds.
Following a series of clues, the pupils explored the campus, uncovering fun facts and hidden spots to begin their scientific journey.
The adventure continued as the children embarked on a hunt for worms to fill their newly assembled wormery. Using soil collected from molehills around the grounds, they created an ideal habitat for their wriggling new friends. The school grounds served as the perfect open-air laboratory, and the pupils eagerly embraced the opportunity to get their hands dirty.
This term, Year 3 pupils have been investigating the wonders of soil: what it is made of, how it forms, the remarkable timescale needed for its formation, and why it is so essential to ecosystems and human-on activities and real-world exploration, our budding scientists are discovering the vital role that soil plays in our world.
