Year 5 Dive Into the Vibrant World of J. Vincent Scarpace

This term, St Gabriel's Year 5 pupils have been inspired by the work of American artist J. Vincent Scarpace, known for his stunning, vibrant depictions of sea creatures.

Scarpace’s art is characterised by his use of bold acrylic paints and his unique approach to design, where circular, organic shapes give his pieces a sense of movement and flow.

Year 5’s project aimed to emulate Scarpace’s distinct style while introducing the pupils to various painting techniques. Using a water-resistant painting method, each pupil created their own colourful fish masterpiece, experimenting with vibrant hues and shapes to bring their aquatic creatures to life. The result is a dazzling array of fish, each one full of character, energy, and personality.

Through this project, Year 5 not only explored the imaginative world of Scarpace’s art but also developed their own skills in colour blending and brushwork. The outcome is a collection of lively, playful fish paintings that showcase the creativity and talent of our pupils.

We are proud to display these fantastic artworks. Each fish is a testament to the hard work and artistic flair of Year 5, and we can’t wait to see where their creativity takes them next!
