Year 8 Explore Democracy on Parliament Trip

On Monday 24 March, our Year 8 students had the exciting opportunity to visit the heart of British democracy with a trip to the Houses of Parliament in London.
The day began with a fascinating guided tour through the historic corridors of power, including visits to the House of Commons, the House of Lords Room, and the grand Processional Entrance. Walking in the footsteps of political leaders, the pupils gained valuable insights into how the UK government operates.
Following the tour, students took part in an engaging workshop on the ‘Power of Petitions.’ They explored how petitions can be a powerful tool for influencing change, discussing issues that matter to them and considering how they might use their voices to make a difference.
It was an informative and thought-provoking trip, giving our students a real-world understanding of democracy in action. A big thank you to the Parliament Education team for such an inspiring experience!
