Spanish Lessons at Home
Mrs Tyler is very proud of her students as throughout the period of remote teaching they have excelled themselves in their Spanish lessons. They have practised their spoken Spanish during remote sessions with Sarah Leyva, our Mexican language assistant; got to grips with new topics and grammar, and shown a huge amount of creativity and flair in response to project tasks. They have worked collaboratively, using the wonders of technology, and independently. ¡Well done, chicas!
The wide variety of work produced by students in Year 9 and Year 10 Spanish classes over the last couple of months has included some excellent fashion shows, presentations on film and TV preferences narrated by the students as well as work on Cinco de Mayo. Another task for Year 11 was based on the lyrics of the song 'Gracias a la vida' by Mercedes Sosa and is available to download at the base of this page.
Pupils have also benefited from new resources such as this one created by Mrs Tyler Serena Williams: Mi modelo a seguir to practise combining tenses whilst talking about a role model before going on to create their own digital book.
‘Cinco de Mayo’
Year 9 followed a puzzle trail to find out more about Cinco de Mayo, enabling them to produce invitations and posters to build their understanding of this celebration in Mexico and the US.
The cookery demonstrations filmed by Sarah Leyva, created for the after-school Cultural Club, showcase several easy Mexican dishes and are shared below for the wider community to enjoy.
Buñuelos Fritters
Pay de Mango - Mango Cheesecake
Pay de oreo - Oreo Tart
Tacos de picadillo - Tacos with meat filling
This period of remote learning has resulted in a lot of collaboration between teachers across the world including sharing of resources, with support from companies such as Pearson.
