Year 8 Students Delighted by A Midsummer Night's Dream in Stratford-upon-Avon
Last week, the Year 8 students of St. Gabriel's embarked on an unforgettable journey to Stratford-upon-Avon to experience a magical performance of Shakespeare's classic comedy, "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Led by the renowned actor Matthew Baynton of "Ghosts" and "Horrible Histories" fame, the production captivated audiences with its blend of special effects, lively songs, dynamic dancing, and uproarious physical comedy.
The atmosphere inside the theater was electric, as students were greeted with vibrant music and witty humor from the very beginning. One standout character, Bottom, stole the show with his hilarious antics and witty (albeit occasionally cheesy) jokes, leaving the audience in fits of laughter.
During the interval, students had the chance to experience an interactive feature of the production—a chair adorned with Shakespearean insults. One student, Lucas, recounted his experience sitting on the chair, which playfully hurled humorous insults at him, adding an extra layer of amusement to the evening.
As the second act commenced, the students found themselves fully immersed in the enchanting world of Shakespeare's comedy. The captivating performances and engaging storyline held their attention throughout, with not a single whisper heard among the mesmerized audience members.
At the play's conclusion, a spectacular finale left the students in awe, culminating in thunderous applause and cheers of appreciation for the talented cast and crew.
Reflecting on the experience, Lucas shared his enthusiasm, stating, "The atmosphere was incredible with lots of loud music and funny jokes. My favourite character was Bottom, who made lots of hilarious (but often bad dad) jokes that made everyone laugh."
