Year 2's Magical Adventure at The Story Museum

On Tuesday 4 March, our Year 2 pupils embarked on an enchanting journey into the world of storytelling at The Story Museum in Oxford.
The day was filled with immersive experiences, interactive exhibits, and plenty of magical moments.
The adventure began in The Whispering Woods, where pupils discovered the tradition of oral storytelling. Shivani was thrilled to find an Indian tale her mother had once told her, making the experience even more special. They also tested their strength by attempting to pull Excalibur from the stone—but, alas, the legendary sword remained firmly in place! Before leaving, they made wishes and tied ribbons to the Wishing Tree.
Next, the children explored the museum's magical galleries, stepping into some of the most beloved literary worlds. They played Pooh Sticks in the Hundred Acre Wood, ventured through the wardrobe into Narnia, watched The Snowman, and discovered the enchanting magic of Wonderland with Alice. A particular highlight was the opportunity to sit at the original writing desk of C.S. Lewis, the author of The Chronicles of Narnia.
The morning ended with an exciting Dragon storytelling session. After listening to a dragon tale, pupils explored the Dragon Room and worked in groups to create their own magical dragon stories, which they proudly shared with the class.
In the afternoon, the adventure continued with a guided Narnia trail. Along the way, pupils played games and re-enacted scenes from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. The biggest thrill? A snowball fight to help defeat the White Witch—a truly unforgettable experience!
A huge thank you to The Story Museum for an incredible day immersed in the magic of storytelling.
