Kip in a Ship!
Let us take a look back at Year 9's exciting night aboard HMS Belfast!
Our Year 9 pupils spent an exciting night aboard HMS Belfast. This was a unique opportunity to discover the realities of life on a warship, to learn about some of the different jobs on board that help keep this town in shipshape. They discovered the stories of the men who lived on and worked onboard this warship during D-Day and beyond.
They learnt about visual signallers and learnt about semaphore, a flag signal language. On the Saturday morning, they were able to hoist the flag on the ship!
Year 9 also learnt about Morse code, and how these ships communicated with each other. They were also given an exclusive tour of the Captain's Bridge and Flag deck, seeing the London skyline at night.
