Year 7 Clay Sculptures Inspired by Roche Court Visit

Our Year 7 pupils have been busy bringing their artistic visions to life with a series of impressive clay sculptures, created as part of their latest Art project.

The inspiration for these creative pieces came from their visit to Roche Court Sculpture Park last year—a memorable trip that left a lasting impression on their understanding of three-dimensional art. (You can read more about the visit in our Autumn Term news article.)

Set against the backdrop of beautiful countryside, the trip to Roche Court offered pupils a unique opportunity to engage with an incredible collection of 3D artworks, many of which are displayed outdoors in harmony with the natural environment. They explored a variety of materials and discussed the deeper meanings behind the sculptures, gaining valuable insights into how art interacts with nature.

Back in the art studio, pupils have drawn on these experiences, along with the different artistic techniques they’ve been studying this year, to shape their clay creations. The results have been outstanding—the sculptures reflect not only their technical skills but also their creative interpretation of the themes and forms they explored at Roche Court.

It’s been fantastic to see how the pupils have channelled their inspiration into these thoughtful and beautifully crafted pieces. Well done, Year 7!
