Year 8 Netball Squad Triumph at ISA National Finals

On Friday 21st March, our U13A (Year 8) netball squad travelled to Warwick to compete in the Independent Schools Association (ISA) National Schools Netball Finals—a prestigious event for which they had qualified earlier in the season.
Under the expert coaching of Mrs. Joseph, the team had been training relentlessly in the lead-up to the tournament, with early morning sessions and dedicated Monday night practices. Each player had specific goals and targets, ensuring they were fully prepared for the challenge ahead.
After an early start and a long journey to King’s High School, Warwick, the team arrived eager but understandably nervous as they faced some of the top independent school teams in the country. A motivating team talk from Mrs. Joseph, alongside support from Miss Stamp and Mr. James, gave them the confidence boost they needed before stepping onto the court for their opening matches.
The competition was fierce, and the girls battled hard in the group stages, winning two matches and narrowly losing three against strong opposition. This result placed them 5th in their initial group and secured them a place in the ‘Trophy’ pool. With renewed determination, they played with passion and resilience, maintaining possession, executing strong defensive plays, and holding off the opposition in the final match to emerge victorious—bringing home a well-earned trophy and medals for all!
This talented squad has demonstrated exceptional teamwork, skill, and dedication throughout the season. Their hard work, guided by the unwavering commitment of Mrs. Joseph, has shaped them into a strong, cohesive unit, capable of competing at the highest level.
Winning a trophy at a National Schools Netball Tournament is an incredible achievement, and we couldn’t be prouder of this team for putting St Gabriel’s on the map in such a competitive arena. Huge congratulations to all the players and an enormous thank you to Mrs. Joseph for her dedication, expertise, and enthusiasm, which played a vital role in their success.
Well done, girls—what a fantastic way to finish the season!
