GCSE Results 2019
Following last week's best ever A level results, and in a developing GCSE landscape, St Gabriel’s students have again performed with distinction in their GCSEs with over 55% of all grades at 9-7, including 42% of all individual science results at 9/8, as well as 50% of Maths results being 9-7.
As the ‘new’ GCSEs have started to settle, there has still been a great deal of concern in the media and amongst educationalists about the increased syllabus content that has the potential to add undue pressure on to Year 11 pupils. However, these outstanding results show the commitment, hard work and dedication that the pupils and staff have put in to make sure that this success has been achieved.
The grades awarded show once again the impressive quality of our pupils and staff. There were outstanding results across the board, with other notable highlights being: 100% of Greek, and 80% of technology results at 9/8.
Principal, Ricki Smith, said ‘We are thrilled to be celebrating some truly exceptional GCSE results. Every year there is a great deal written about falling standards, which seems unjustified at a time when we should be paying tribute to the versatility and adaptability of our young people and the teachers that prepare them for their public exams. This cohort has done wonderfully well and we look forward to them joining the Sixth Form next month.’
