MedSoc Students Gain Insight into Pre-Natal Processes

Students in St Gabriel’s MedSoc had the unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of antenatal care and the process of labour in a special session led by Science Technician and Newbury NCT leader, Helen Kuijpers.

With over 12 years of experience as the leading provider of antenatal classes in West Berkshire and a provider of NHS antenatal classes online, Helen brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the session.

The Sixth Form students explored the various stages of labour and the remarkable physiological changes that take place within the human body to support childbirth. It was an eye-opening and thought-provoking discussion, offering aspirations in medicine, midwifery, and paramedic science.

At St Gabriel’s, we are fortunate to have such expertise within our own staff, and our MedSoc students greatly benefited from Helen’s professional experience and engaging approach. Sessions like these provide hands-on, real-world learning that helps to bridge the gap between classroom theory and future careers in the medical sciences.
