Year 10 Take on the Silver D of E Training Weekend

From Friday 21 March to Sunday 23 March, our Year 10 pupils tackled their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Training Weekend, embarking on a two-night expedition across the West Berkshire and Hampshire border.
Spending their first night in Hungerford and the second in Linkenholt, the pupils took on the challenge of navigating their way through the countryside, relying on OS maps, teamwork, and resilience to reach their destinations. Carrying everything they needed—including camping gear, food supplies, and personal belongings—they put their planning and survival skills to the test.
The D of E Expedition phase is designed to inspire young people to develop initiative and a spirit of adventure, and this weekend was a valuable practice run ahead of their qualifying expedition next term, which will take place from Saturday 26 to Monday 28 April.
Well done to all our Year 10 participants for their determination and teamwork—good luck for the real expedition at the end of the month!
