Year 8 Inspired by Cultural Treasures at the Pitt Rivers Museum
Two weeks into the start of Autumn Term, our Year 8 pupils took a trip to Oxford to explore the world-famous Pitt Rivers Museum.
Founded in 1884, the Pitt Rivers Museum is renowned for its extensive collection of global cultural artefacts, and is a treasure trove for artistic exploration. Pupils examined a multitude of items including armour, jewellery, masks, musical instruments, and textiles, each telling a unique story of history and culture. A talk on how to use their sketchbooks as creative recording tools inspired the students to search for ideas for their upcoming cultural artefacts project back at school. The visit sparked their imaginations, blending history with creativity, and setting the stage for their next artistic adventure!
