Year 11 Geographers Explore Urban Sustainability and Redevelopment in Bristol
Our Year 11 Geography students recently took an insightful field trip to Bristol as part of their preparation for the upcoming Paper 3 exam.
The day offered hands-on experience with various fieldwork skills and deepened their understanding of urban redevelopment and sustainability.
The students focused on the Temple Quarter area, a prominent Enterprise Zone, where they investigated the impact and progress of redevelopment efforts. To gauge sustainability within the local area, students conducted a range of fieldwork techniques, including environmental surveys, sound-scaping, land-use analysis, and perception surveys—engaging directly with members of the public to understand local views on these changes.
The day included a walking tour along Bristol’s floating harbour, providing an opportunity to observe and analyse urban infrastructure in a real-world context. Students also had a brief lunch break at The Galleries shopping centre, allowing them to experience one of the city's bustling commercial hubs.
The fieldwork experience was invaluable, equipping our Year 11 Geographers with practical skills that will benefit them in their exams and beyond.
