Senior Carol Service: Joy and Reflection for the Festive Season
Last night, the Senior School community gathered in the School Hall for the annual Christmas Carol Service, a cherished event that celebrates the meaning of Christmas.
The service began with a beautiful rendition of Once in Royal David’s City, setting the tone for a night of reflection and celebration. Classic carols such as O Little Town of Bethlehem, The First Nowell, and O Come All Ye Faithful filled the hall, culminating in the jubilant Hark the Herald Angels Sing.
Readings and lessons from the Gospels brought the nativity story to life, while Reverend Joy Mawdesley of St Nicholas Church in Newbury delivered an inspiring address that resonated with the spirit of the season.
Musical highlights included stunning performances from the Senior Vocal Group and the Staff Choir, as well as Euphonix, who performed two beautiful pieces that showcased their talent. The School Orchestra provided accompaniment throughout, adding richness to the evening's music.
The service concluded with a retiring collection in support of two important causes: Time to Talk, a local charity offering counselling services to young people in West Berkshire, and St Nicholas Church, whose outreach programs provide a vital lifeline for local families.
This year’s Senior Carol Service was a memorable celebration of music, community, and the enduring spirit of Christmas.
